Hot August Day (it's been ages since i did anything)

For the for-seeable future I'm going to be working the OCAC front desk, giving me ample time to actually make posts. Huzzah! It's a time of speculation, since it's muggy and there's not actually work to do here on Sundays. Instead there's Andrew Bird playing in the cafe, and fantastic smells wafting from there. Of course, I could spend it speculating, or I could spend it looking up arcane knowledge on the wonders of the interweb. Last week I researched giant squids, and learned they may have prehensile penis'. What will be revealed today?

Lately I've been working so much as to totally lose track of time and what's important. i wish i could figure out a way, again, to just sit i my bed room sewing wallets and listening to the radio. that i could hold still in that particular creative way, or move with an aesthetic purpose only. maybe just by putting the wish out there it will work its way into being. we shall see.

in the meantime, here's an old picture of jim finishing off his custom camera and ipod cases. miss him much.

the day after my 8 month day

hey old worldy world! here's another attempt from me to get back on the bloghorse. It's been a stale couple of months, and not much worth reporting. Infact, I'm beginning to think that just using this to show off creations would be a better function for it than trying to communicate with words.
So let's put this up: here's the tuna dress of the fortnight, completed with Jim's old bike mechanic's shirt. for those of you who don't know, he just returned to England. Coincidentally, the dress is made out of his blanket. The whole ensemble could be seen as a sort of ode. The parameters of tuna dresses is that they can't take more than an hour to make, must be out of a textile i already have, and must be created between when the tuna is prepared and when the guests arrive, and that i only wear them once. this dress was gifted to a chick named kimba.

we'll see how this goes. no promises, but i'll do my best to get an image up here everyday or so.

september!

Oh Boy! I have a show at Red Wing Cafe, 1700 SE 6th, here in the PDX. I even made show cards of the widgeon. Post your address here and you'll get one in the post! how novel! Right now I'm house sitting, hence no photos of the new set up. However, the background, made of yolo paint swatches, and lovingly crafted by ted and myself, is so cool. soon i'll have an image up. you know, maybe in october or something...

throwing up

Here's some more images of things covered in sequins, because someone might come to this blog and wanna look at them. oh, the mysteries! i really think red stripe isn't worth whatever whoever left it at my house paid for it.

painting teeth is hard.

I've decided that, from now on, everyone i will be atttracted to will not have a toothy grin. I think it's much harder to paint typically handsome people. general frustration ensues, and then there's no desire to continue the project. blah blah blah.

last night went to the Ditty Bops: way so cuteness! i want to wear a dress that looks like an artichoke and sing pretty songs: no more of this mushy paint stuff. Musicians have it made: nothing outside of recordings are permanent. people pay them to do the same trick over and over, preferably the same way, but tolerate it if they wanna switch things up. I feel constrained!

Just realised today that I only have 2 weeks until my next hanging, and ten days until i'm set to climb Adams with my father, grandfather and cousin. Agh! Acutally, though before i realised all these things, i was musing on how great life is, and how relaxed and ready for anything i felt. so, go figure.

Finished The Alienist. Great book for providing excuses not to do anything but eat frozen chocolate chips and read while sitting with cats in sunshine. life is good. just going too fast!

one painting almost done!

yey! it's of Nicole Mournian, who i miss terribly. it's going to be more of a sketch book series, i guess. but attractive. as it fleshes out i'll try to get more conceptual. There are still 4 kitties around, and I'm most of the way through the alienist.

So sorry for the slowness!

Now I'm at G-nehl house, with cable, so no more excuses (except the lack of camera) until next wednesday. Updated photos include : finished floor, my duct taped fingers and a very large beetle, and two sunset pictures of the area out by my mom's place. this space burned off last spring, so it really is dark in the forground. have to go buy groceries now.
